Camiguin Island, Camiguin

Camiguin is an up-and-coming tourist spot that also happens to have great birds and endemics! Getting to Camiguin is a bit difficult and requires a flight to Cebu (from Manila or wherever you’re coming from) then another flight to the island. But this effort is rewarded with fantastic views of Dimorphic Dwarf-Kingfishers and Rufous Paradise-Flycatchers, which seem to be way more friendly on Camiguin than the rest of the Philippines. The endemics—Camiguin Boobook, Camiguin Hanging-Parrot, and Camiguin Bulbul—are fairly easy to see,and I’ve gotten all three right by the hotel I was staying at. I recommend Camiguin for those who want to explore the non-birding activities of the island as well since most of the birding can be done in a morning.
